Medical waste is the everyday name for healthcare-generated waste. Clinical waste is the regulated infectious group. Infectious soft waste goes in orange or yellow. Sharps go in a UN bin. The producer classifies, stores and hands the waste to a licensed carrier. Bio Waste Solutions Group is carrier CBDU642850. Any UK postcode can be quoted. The office accepts only if a collection day can be kept.
Use this page for the short answer, then open the guide that matches the stream. It does not replace your waste assessment.
Is medical waste the same as clinical waste? In conversation, often. Medical waste is the broad phrase. Clinical waste is the regulated infectious group and, in the wider sense, sharps and some medicines.
What is infectious waste? Healthcare waste that could cause infection. Orange if it is not chemically contaminated. Yellow if it is. Often hazardous code 18 01 03* once classified.
Can it go in a black bag? No. Black sacks are the wrong description for infectious, sharps and hazardous medicine streams.
Can sharps go in the clinical bag? No. Needles, blades and burs go in a UN bin, closed before anyone lifts it.
Can medicines go in the orange bag? No. HTM 07-01 keeps medicines out of orange infectious bags. Cytotoxic medicines are a purple stream of their own.
Is tiger-stripe clinical waste? No. Tiger-stripe is non-infectious offensive waste.
Who collects household clinical waste? The council, for residents. Practices, clinics, care homes and other businesses use a licensed carrier. This site is the business service.
How often is it collected? As often as the containers fill and a round can be kept. There is no single national interval.
What paperwork do I keep? A transfer note for the movements that need one. A consignment note when the load is hazardous. Hazardous notes are kept for three years at the producing premises.
Will you take every postcode? We quote any UK postcode, then accept or decline. A town page is a service area, not an office.
Open the guide for that stream: infectious waste, orange or yellow bags, offensive or infectious, hazardous healthcare waste, storage, or pathological waste.
The published offer is 15% off the annual ex-VAT total when we can keep the collections. It is a quote. It is not a promise that every site is accepted.
No. We collect the waste ourselves. We do not sell the enquiry to a panel of other carriers.
